Rosedale Captures Title at Annual Glen Brand Open

OMAHA, Neb. - Junior 174-pounder Brett Rosedale won his first title of the season, as the UNO Mavericks wrestling team hosted the annual Glen Brand Open at the Sapp Fieldhouse on Sunday.
Rosedale finished the day a perfect 3-0, knocking off Midland University's Kody Kersten by a 5-0 decision in the final match. The Marshalltown, Iowa native also downed Nebraska-Lincoln's Joe Pittman with a 4-0 decision en route to his first championship of the season.
Senior 184-pounder Aaron Denson started strong, opening 3-0 against the competition before forfeiting his final match and garnering a second-place finish. Fellow senior Tait Weatherbee (149 lbs.) also began strong at 2-0, but defaulted out of the tournament with injury.
Redshirt freshman Trent Cox (133 lbs.) and sophomore Tim Chavez (141 lbs.) each finished with 3-1 records, with Chavez falling in the finals to Iowa Central Community College's Joe Colon at 6:04.
Wrestling unattached, 133-pound freshman Josh Keszler went 3-2, as did 165-pound Nathan Sigman, also competing unattached.
UNO Wrestling Club member James Reynolds finished 2-1 at 197 pounds and junior Taylor Escamilla grabbed second-place at 285 pounds, with a 2-1 finish.
The Mavericks were without several of the team's anchors as a precautionary for the upcoming dual against Augsburg on Thursday at 7 p.m., at Sapp Fieldhouse.

The Most Falls award went to University of Iowa's Walt Gilmore, also wrestling unattached. He recorded four falls in 6 minutes and 39 seconds.
