Puc Named to Cross Country All-Academic Team

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Anja Puc was named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association 2010 Division II All-Academic Cross Country team on Wednesday. She was one of 313 runners nationwide to earn the honor.
Puc, an All-American sprinter and national champion for the Mavericks' track team, made her cross country debut last fall. She finished third in the MIAA championships, running the event for the first time. She followed that up with a second-place finish overall in the South Central Region meet, a performance that qualified her for the NCAA Division II championship.
Representing UNO as an individual at the national championship, Puc finished 68th, running in cold and snowy conditions in Louisville, Ky.
To qualify for the All-Academic team, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher and place in the top 50 percent of the national championship.
Last season, Puc was a third team Academic All-American in track.
