UNO Stays in Third After Day Two of Conference Cha

Day Two Results
OMAHA, Neb. -- Senior #Laura Kemp# won the 200 individual medley, leading the UNO swimming and diving team to third-place standing after day two of the 2011 Midwestern Collegiate Championships at the HPER Swimming Pool on UNO's campus on Thursday. As a team, the Mavericks have 303 points, behind only St. Cloud State (380) and Minnesota State (311).
Kemp won her event with a first-place time of 2:06.62, worth 26 team points, while freshman #Kylie Rathbone# took fourth (2:08.56).
In the 500-yard freestyle, junior #Amy Bechdolt# was the highest-finishing Maverick, grabbing fourth with a mark of 5:13.38. Junior #Kylie Hubbell# was right behind her in fifth (5:14.19).
Sprint action in the 50-yard freestyle saw senior #Cait Hopkins# swim to a runner-up performance in 23.86, while junior #Colleen Klaiber# took third in 24.08. Hopkins, Klaiber and Bechdolt, along with freshman Maddie Hutt, made up UNO's 400 medley relay team that finished second (3:53.78) and earned 44 points.
Day three action of the Midwestern Collegiate Championships begins with the preliminary session at 10 a.m. on Friday at HPER Pool.
