Domike Earns MIAA Award As Championship Set To Beg

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - For the third time this season, UNO long and triple jumper #Nkeiruka Domike# was named the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association Track and Field Student-Athlete of the Week for the field events.
The award comes down as the MIAA indoor track and field championship kicks off this afternoon at Warrensburg, Mo. with the multi events.
Domike took first place in the long jump at the Nebraska Tune-Up with a leap of 19-3 ½. That mark moved her up to second in the country in the event and has qualified her for the national championship. She is already ranked first in the country in the triple jump. It was also a new personal best, bettering her old long jump mark by seven inches. Domike will head to the MIAA Championships as the league's top-ranked jumper in the long jump by almost three inches and in the triple jump by more than five feet.
The Mavericks are the two-time defending MIAA indoor champions. The championship runs through Sunday afternoon at Central Missouri's Multipurpose Building.
