Mavs Get Four More Wins, Take Fourth at MIAA Champ

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The UNO Mavericks had four more individual winners and finished in fourth place at the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Indoor Track and Field Championship on Sunday.
MIAA newcomer Lincoln University, the defending Division II indoor national champion, won the league title with 113 points. Host Central Missouri was second with 81 points followed by Missouri Southern with 73. The Mavericks finished with 71 points.
#Nkeiruka Domike# took first place in the long jump with a personal-best mark of 19-5 ¼. It was her second win of the championship after defending her triple jump crown from 2010 on Saturday. Teammate #Kathie-Lee Laidley# took fourth in the event at 18-7, posting the mark with her last jump of the day.
Laidley used similar heroics to win the high jump, posting a winning mark of 5-8 ¾ with her last jump.
#Heather Minssen# also earned first place in the shot put, posting a season-best throw of 48-9, winning by nearly a foot and a half.
On the track, #Anja Puc# successfully defended her 800 meter championship from 2010, winning in a time of 2:16.83. She also took sixth in the mile with a time of 5:09.69, pulling off the rare feat of scoring points in both the mile and the 800 in the same day.
#Jody-Ann Coore# earned a fourth place finish in the 60 meter hurdles, matching her personal best with a time of 8.86.
#Maja Mihalinec# finished third in the 200 meters with a time of 24.86. She then teamed with #Celeste Robinson#, Puc and #Kayla Koepke# to finish fourth in the 4 x 400 meter relay in a time of 3:59.97.
The Mavericks will send athletes to the NCAA Qualifier at Iowa State on Saturday, March 5 before the NCAA Division II Indoor Championship on March 11-12 in Albuquerque, N.M.
