Mavericks Finish Strong at NCAA Championships

SAN ANTONIO -- The UNO swimming and diving team wrapped up its appearance at the 2011 NCAA Championships on Saturday night at Palo Alto Natatorium.

Senior #Cait Hopkins# capped her Maverick career with a 15th-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking in at 51.56.

The Mavs' 400 freestyle relay team -- made up of Hopkins, junior #Colleen Klaiber and freshmen Kylie Rathbone and Tiesha Scipio# -- finished 13th with a mark of 3:28.41.

As a team, Nebraska-Omaha placed 23rd in the nation, totaling 37 points over the four-day competition. The Mavericks have finished among the top 25 at the NCAA Championships 13 consecutive years.

"I was very pleased with our level of competition and our team's unified effort," Head Coach #Todd Samland# said. "It was awesome to have us score in four of the five relays and set a school record in one of those events this week."
