Spenner In Sixth After Day One at ESU Multis

Day One Results
EMPORIA, Kan. - UNO sophomore Sami Spenner is in sixth place after the first day of competition at the Emporia State Combined Multis. Day two is tomorrow.
Spenner and the other helptathletes were chased inside by a large thunderstorm that dumped more than an inch of rain and hail on the greater Emporia area. Teammates Ckalyn Roth-Clark and Jessica Ripp are also competing and are in 17th and 21st place respectively.
Spenner posted a time of 15.93 in the first event fo the day, the 100 meter hurdles. She followed that with a jump of 5-1 3/4 in the high jump and later posted a toss of 32-7 1/2 in the shot put and a time of 26.28 in the 200 meter dash. She has a score of 2,674 after the first four events.
The meet marks the beginning of a busy weekend of competition for the Mavericks. In addition to day two at ESU on Friday, the Mavericks also will compete in the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific in California. On Saturday, they'll be at the Beach Invitational hosted by Long Beach State, also in California, and the Concordia Invitational in Seward, Neb.
