Soper Picks Up MIAA Golf Athlete of the Week Honor

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - UNO senior #Ricca Soper# has been named the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association women's golf student-athlete of the week. It's the first time she's earned the award and the second time a Maverick has been honored this spring.
Soper posted a four-over par score of 76 in the second round at the Drury Spring Shootout to lead the Mavericks in scoring over the two-day event. She finished the tournament at 160, 16-over par, tying for fifth in the field of 78 golfers. Her 76 on day two of the tournament now gives her three of the top 14 18-hole scores shot by a Maverick this year.
This is the third time this season Soper has led the Mavericks in scoring and the seventh time in nine tournaments this season that she has been one of UNO's top two golfers.
Soper's fellow senior, #Dani Suponchick#, won the same award on March 24.
Soper and the Mavericks return to action next Monday and Tuesday, April 11 and 12 at the Tarleton State Invitational in Granbury, Texas.
