UNO Track Named All-Academic Team

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The UNO track and field team was one of 74 teams nationwide named an All-Academic Team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association today. To make the list, teams need to post a cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 or better for the academic year.

The track and field team achieved a GPA of 3.19 last season and placed 12 athletes on the Dean's List in the fall and 10 in the spring.

In addition, eight Mavericks were named USTFCCCA All-Academic honorees for their work in the classroom during 2010-11.

Those Mavericks to make the list included Jody-Ann Coore, Kayla Koepke, Lianne McNaughton, Maja Mihalinec, Heather Minssen, Anja Puc, Celeste Robinson and Sami Spenner.

Student-athletes must achieve a GPA of 3.25 or better and have met an NCAA automatic or provisional qualifying mark in either indoor or outdoor competition to earn All-Academic honors.
