OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The Omaha men's golf team moved up four places on Tuesday, finishing in eighth place at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate at Kansas City.
The Mavericks carded a team score of 898. They began the day in 12th place but shot by several teams including Summit League foes Western Illinois and South Dakota and local rivals like Drake and Creighton. Host Kansas City won with a score of 870 followed by North Dakota State (872) and Arkansas State (881).
Karl Krieser led the Mavs in scoring with a three-round total of 222 after firing a 76 in round three, good for a tie for 18th. Mitch Ryan and Alex Overfelt both carded scores of 73, lowest of the day for the Mavs, to finish at 223 and 227 respectively. Ryan finished in a tie for 21st while Overfelt was in a tie for 42nd.
Taylor Sidzyik was fourth for UNO and tied for 52nd overall with a score of 229 after shooting 76 in round three. Michael Shukis finished with a 78 on Tuesday for a 54-hole score of 230, putting him in a tie for 57th.
The Mavericks close the fall season at the Houston Baptist Husky Invitational on Oct. 22 and 23.
