MISSOURI CITY, Texas - Karl Krieser posted a two-round score just one over par to lead the Omaha men's golf team in the first two rounds of the Houston Baptist Husky Invitational on Monday.
The Mavericks are in sixth place in the eight-team tournament with a score of 602. Host Houston Baptist leads with a score of 570 while Sam Houston State and Florida Atlantic are tied for second at 581.
Krieser shot a score of 143 over the first 36 holes at the par-71 Quail Valley Golf Club. He shot 71 for the first round, a new low round for the Mavs this year. It marked the second time in as many weeks he has set the team low round of the season. He sits in a tie for sixth overall.
Alex Overfelt shot rounds of 75 and 73 for a score of 148 to rank second for the Mavericks and in a tie for 19th overall. Taylor Sidzyik went 77-78-155 to place 41st overall. Mitch Ryan played the first round in 81 and improved his score to 77 in round two for a score of 158 to rank fourth for UNO and tie for 43rd overall. Mitch Johnson rounded out the scoring for the Mavs with scores of 79 and 81 for a tally of 160.
The final round of the fall season for UNO is Tuesday morning at 9 a.m.
