Vorthmann Earns Second Summit League Honor

ELMHURST, Ill. - Omaha senior Amanda Vorthmann was named the Summit League's athlete of the week for cross country on Tuesday, the second time this season she has earned the honor.
Vorthmann is coming off a week in which she won the Briar Cliff Invite on Oct. 6, her second overall win of the year. She also took first at the UNO/Creighton Classic back on Sept. 1.
Vorthmann ran a time of 17:12.38 at Briar Cliff, the fastest 5k time in school history for either cross country or track. It is also the fastest time in the Summit League this season.
The native of Oakland, Iowa has led UNO in all four races this season and will look to continue that streak as the Mavs compete in the Tim Young Dakota Days Challenge hosted by South Dakota on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 10 a.m. It is UNO's last meet before the Summit League Championship on Oct. 27.
