Mavs Open Mutual Invite in Second Place

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha swimming & diving team opened the Mutual of Omaha Swim Invitational at HPER Pool on Friday and sits in second place with 595 points.
The Mavs started the evening finals with a solid performance in the 200 freestyle relay. Junior Whitney Korgan and freshmen Hannah Johnson and Natalie Renshaw kicked off the event with a lead for senior Cami Hansberry to anchor, clocking in at 1:35.67 for first place.
UNO continued to add points in the 400 IM. Sophomore Lexi Bergeron and junior Madeline Hutt took second (4:37.27) and third places (4:37.75), respectively. Following the 400 IM, Hutt took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.08).
Renshaw and Hansberry added a one-two finish for Omaha in the 50 yard freestyle with Renshaw in first (23.87) and Hansberry in second (23.96).
The Mavericks took second place in their final event of the night, as Renshaw, Hutt, Hansberry and sophomore Jenna Foiles posted a time of 3:53.17 in the 400 medley relay.
In the women's team standings among Division I squads, Northern Colorado leads the field after the first day with 806 points. Omaha follows in second with 595, and Northern Iowa is in third (470).
Nebraska-Kearney the non-Division I women's teams with 266 points. Colorado Swim Club (261) is second, followed by Iowa Central Community College (153), Morningside College (68) and Iowa Lakes Community College (38).
On the men's side, Colorado Swim Club leads with 586 points. Iowa Central CC trails in second with 496 and Iowa Lakes CC (340), Morningside (237), and Simpson College (130) follow.
The Mutual of Omaha Invite continues on Saturday, Dec. 1 at HPER Swimming Pool. Prelims begin at 10 a.m. and finals continue at 6 p.m.
