OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha swimming and diving team finished second with 1,148.5 total team points in the Division I women's competition at the Mutual of Omaha Invite at HPER Swimming Pool on Saturday.
Madeline Hutt had an outstanding day, breaking school records to win both the 200 breast (2:17.91) and the 100 breast (1:04.08). She was also part of the Mavs' winning 200 medley relay team and finished second in the 200 IM.
UNO opened with a win in its first event of the evening finals, as Hutt, Natalie Renshaw, Jenna Foiles and Cami Hansberry posted a time of 1:45.93 in the 200 medley relay. Additionally, Hutt and Erin Wright took second and third in the 200 IM, clocking times of 2:10.66 and 2:12.48, respectively. Renshaw also added points for UNO, placing first in the 100 back (57.78) and the 100 free (51.32).
Hutt's record performance highlighted the 200 breast, and Hannah Alexander followed in second (2:23.49).
Colorado Swim Club narrowly out-touched Omaha in the 400 free relay. Renshaw, Hansberry, Whitney Korgan, Hannah Johnson, recorded a mark of 3:29.76 for second.
In the Division I women's standings, Northern Colorado won the invite with 1575 points. Omaha was second with 1148.5, and Northern Iowa came in third (930.5).
On the men's side, Colorado Swim Club claimed the title with 1180 points, and Iowa Central Community College took second (916).
UNO returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 8, hosting league opponent South Dakota State at HPER Swimming Pool. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
