PEORIA, Ariz. - The UNO men's golf team opened the spring season at the Quintero Invitational hosted by North Dakota State on Monday. The Mavericks were third out of three teams in the tournament with a first-round score of 333.

Creighton leads with a team score of 322, six shots clear of the Bison. Round two is Tuesday at Noon CT from the Quintero Golf and Country Club.

Karl Krieser and Mitch Johnson both shot 79 on Monday to tie for the team lead and fourth overall. Johnson was sharp on the front side with an even-par 36.

Alex Holtan was third for the Mavericks and 12th overall with a first-round score of 87 while Taylor Sidzyik was fourth with a score of 88. Michael Shukis rounded out the scoring, carding a 90 on day one.

North Dakota State's Nathan Anderson is the overall leader with an even-par round of 72 over the 6,845-yard layout. He was the only golfer to go out and back under 40.
