OMAHA, Neb. - It was a clean sweep for the UNO Maverick men's tennis team on Wednesday, as the Mavericks shut out Concordia 7-0 at Koch Tennis Center.
All six of the Mavericks' singles players won in straight sets, and all three doubles teams won 8-4, as the Mavs improved to 5-8 on the season.
Carlos Ramos Salazar took his No. 1 singles match, 6-3, 6-1, over Jeremy Jank. Anthony Forcucci won 6-4, 6-1 over Danny Frastaci at No. 2 singles, and Brandon Otoski won No. 3 singles against Nathan Wingfield, 6-3, 6-4. Andrew Lescelius won in the No. 4 spot, 6-1, 6-0 over Jonathan Heckman. Eric Busskohl earned the win at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 7-5 over Michael McCartney. Mike Hupf picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win over Joe Vanderveld at No. 6 singles.
In doubles play, Ramos Salazar and Peter Greteman claimed an 8-4 win over Jank and Frastaci. Forcucci and Connor Larson defeated Wingfield and Logan Gates 8-4, and Nathan Greteman and Ben Williams also won 8-4 over McCartney and Vanderveld.
UNO hosts Creighton at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Koch Tennis Center. The match may be moved indoors to Hanscom Tennis Center depending on the weather.
