MACOMB, Ill. - Mitch Johnson and Taylor Sidzyik each shot 74 on Tuesday to lead the UNO men's golf team to a fifth-place finish at the Beu/Mussatto Invitational hosted by Western Illinois.
The Mavericks finished with a team score of 909 after posting a score of 308 in round three. Indian Hills Community College won the event with a three-round score of 873. Western Illinois was second at 891, edging third-place South Dakota State by one stroke.
Alex Holtan led UNO in scoring during the 54-hole event with a score of 224 that included a round of 75 on Tuesday. He tied for 18th overall. Sidzyik finished second for UNO and in a tie for 33 overall with a score of 230, one ahead of Johnson who was third for UNO and in a tie for 36th overall.
Michael Shukis was fourth for the Mavericks at 236 after an 86 in round three. Karl Krieser was fifth at 241.
The Mavericks have just one day off before competing alongside the UNO women's team at the Hotels at Grand Prairie Invitational at Bradley on April 5-7.
