UNO Announces Incoming Women's Golfers

OMAHA, Neb. – University of Nebraska Omaha Director of Golf Tim Nelson announced today the five student-athletes who will join the women's team for the 2012-13 season. The group includes four freshman and one transfer student.
“This incoming class is larger than some of the other classes we've had, and it allows us to build depth in our roster,” said Nelson. “I'm excited to work with these players, and I expect all of them to play important roles for us as we begin our first full season of Division I competition in the Summit League.”
UNO begins its fall season with an exhibition round against Summit League foe South Dakota on Aug. 31. The Mavericks will also play in tournaments at Nebraska, Southern Illinois Edwardsville, South Dakota State, Missouri State and Evansville.
Four of the incoming student-athletes are from Nebraska while the fifth hails from Minnesota. The following is an alphabetical list of the incoming players:
Gentry Carveth - Hometown: Lincoln, Neb.
Carveth was a four-year letter winner at Lincoln Southwest High School where she was the individual medalist at the state tournament and in the Heartland Conference tournament. She helped the Silverhawks to a runner-up team finish at the state tournament after a first-place finish in the district tournament. She was also an all-city and all-state selection and finished her senior season with a scoring average of 83.
Katie Kesti - Hometown: Red Wing, Minn.
Kesti was a four-year letter winner at Red Wing High School where she was all-conference and academic all-conference as a senior co-captain. She was the runner-up in the sectional championship while helping the Wingers to a sectional championship and a fourth-place finish in the state tournament. As a junior, she helped Red Wing to the state championship while once again earning all-conference and academic all-conference honors.
Makenna Kroeker - Hometown: Lincoln, Neb.
Kroeker was a three-year letter winner at Lincoln Southwest High School where she helped the Silverhawks to a runner up finish in the state tournament and a district championship as a senior. She posted the third-best 18-hole score in school history with a 77 during her senior season. During her career, she was an academic all-state selection twice and a Lincoln Southwest Academic Athletic Scholar as a senior.
Sophie Peters - Hometown: Fremont, Neb.
Peters transferred from Morningside College where she played as a freshman, setting the school's record by shooting rounds of 73 in two separate tournaments. She also set the school's season scoring average record with an 80.1 mark. Peters was a member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference all-conference team and was named women's player of the week three times. In high school, she was a four-year letter winner at Fremont High School where she placed third at the state tournament and was a member of the Nebraska Coaches Association All-State Team as a senior.
Britany Seda - Hometown: Albion, Neb.
Seda was a three-year letter winner at Boone Central High School, helping the Cardinals to three straight state championships. As a senior, she was the conference individual champion and a runner up at the state tournament. She was a member of the Nebraska Coaches Association all-state team and was an academic all-state selection, the third straight year she had earned the honor. She also lettered in basketball and was the class valedictorian.
