Mav Women Tie For Eighth in Summit Poll

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Omaha women's golf team was picked to finish in a tie for eighth in the annual preseason Summit League coaches poll. The Mavericks will compete in their first Summit League Championship in April.
North Dakota State was picked to win the Summit League after a runner-up finish last year. The Bison earned 63 points in the poll and seven first-place votes. IUPUI was second with 56 points and the other two first-place votes. Kansas City was third with 52 points. The complete poll is below.
The Mavericks competed in six events during the fall portion of their season. They earned their best finishes of the fall with third place at both the Concordia University Invitational on Sept. 16-17 and the SIUE Intercollegiate the following week. Newcomer Sophie Peters led the Mavs in scoring in the fall with a stroke average of 82, just ahead of senior Elizabeth Havekost at 82.6. Peters fired seven of the top 18-hole rounds for the Mavs last fall including a 73 in the first round of the Payne Stewart Memorial at Missouri State on Oct. 15.
UNO will resume play in the spring half of their season on March 25 and 26 at the Saluki Invitational at Southern Illinois. The Summit League Championship will be held on April 22-24 in Keller, Texas.
