MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Omaha men's golf team shook off a tepid first round to put itself in seventh place after the first two rounds of the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate hosted by Kansas State.
The Mavericks shot 325 in round one but came back with a score of 307 to shoot 632 for day one. Host K-State leads at 598 with Sam Houston State second, just two shots back. Creighton is in third at 614.
The final round begins at 8 a.m. on Tuesday at the Colbert Hills golf course.
Mitch Ryan leads the Mavs and is in a tie for eighth with scores of 76-75-151. Karl Krieser is second for the Mavs after carding rounds of 82-75-157 to sit in a three-way tie for 24th.
Alex Overfelt is two shots behind with rounds of 83-76, tying him for 30th overall. Lucas Gervais is fourth for UNO with a score of 165 (84-81), good for a tie for 43rd.
Taylor Sidzyik is 51st with a score of 86-88-174.
Alex Holtan (85-77-162/T-36) and Miles Russell, in his first tournament, (87-80-167/T-46th) are playing as individuals.
