Mavericks Take Seventh at Kansas State

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Omaha men's golf team finished in seventh place at the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate at Kansas State on Tuesday. The Mavericks also took seventh at last year's event.
UNO posted a 54-hole team score of 950 over the 7,486-yard layout at the Colbert Hills Golf Course. Sam Houston State edged host Kansas State, 900-902 to take the tournament title. Grand Canyon was third at 925.
Karl Krieser was UNO's leading scorer, finishing in a tie for 17th overall with a score of 234. He fired a team-best round of 77 on day two.
Mitch Ryan was second for the Mavs and in a tie for 25th with a score of 237 that included a round of 86 on Tuesday. Alex Overfelt, who carded an 81 on Tuesday, was three strokes back and in 31st overall with a three-round score of 240.
Lucas Gervais shot 79 in round three to finish at 244, good for a tie for 36th while Taylor Sidzyik shot 81 in round three for a score of 255, putting him in a tie for 48th.
Alex Holtan (85-77-79/32) and Miles Russell (87-80-79/T-40) both competed as individuals.
The Mavericks finish the fall schedule on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 7-8, when they host their first ever Division I tournament, the UNO Maverick Collegiate Invitational, at Arbor Links in Nebraska City.
