
Northern Colorado Defeats Mavs, 175.5 -124.5

GREELEY, Colo. – The Omaha swimming & diving team ended their road series at Northern Colorado, falling 175.5-124.5, Monday night.
UNO kicked off the meet strong, winning the first five events of the night. The 200-yard medley team made up of sophomore Natalie Renshaw, junior Jenna Foiles and seniors Madeline Hutt and Whitney Korgan opened the series for Omaha, winning with a time of 1:49.66, slightly behind their 1:48.21 finish at Air Force.
Freshman Morgan Stepp continued the run with a top finish in the 1000-yard freestyle. The Parker, Colo., native swam to her first event win in 10:57.44.
Korgan and Renshaw followed Stepp with first-place finishes in the 200 free (2:00.04) and 100 backstroke (59.12), respectively.
Hutt closed the Mavericks' streak, winning the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.44). Senior Hannah Alexander and sophomore Jordane Linhart took third and fourth, respectively, in the same race.
Renshaw, Hutt and Stepp added three more first-place swims in the 100 free, 200 breast, and 400 IM, respectively.
On the diving side, sophomore Miranda Knipfer and freshman Gabi McNeilly took second (2:18.70) and third (2:09.32) place in 1-meter. Knipfer also took second in 3-meter (2:18.32).
The Mavs host their home opener against Illinois State at HPER Swimming Pool on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m.
