Mavericks Take Second at UNO Invitational

NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. – Junior Karl Krieser tied for second place overall, and the Omaha men's golf team also finished second in its first home tournament of the Division I era.
The Mavericks finished with a score of 909 at the UNO Maverick Collegiate Invitational at Arbor Links Golf Club. Grand Canyon won the event with a 54-hole team score of 895. North Dakota State was third at 925.
In all, eight teams including three other Summit League schools, participated in the event.
Krieser didn't shoot his best round of the tournament in round three – an 80 – but combined with his scores from the first two rounds, he tied for second overall with Grand Canyon's Hayden Webb at 223, seven over par. His total score was the second-best of his career for a 54-hole tournament.
GCU's Mark Geddes was the individual medalist, finishing with a two-under par score of 214.
Alex Holtan was second in scoring for the Mavs and tied for seventh overall at 227. He had UNO's best round on Tuesday at 77. His tournament score also was the second-best of his career.
Mitch Ryan finished ninth overall following a 79 in round three that gave him a 54-hole score of 228.
Alex Overfelt and Lucas Gervais each closed play with a final round of 82. Overfelt finished in a tie for 11th at 231 while Gervais was tied for 31st at 242.
Taylor Sidzyik (79-78-80-237/26th) and Miles Russell (77-88-85-250/T-45th) both played as individuals.
The Mavericks earned their best overall finish in their own tournament, their last of the fall season. They'll return to the course for spring golf in March.
