
UNO Adds 113 Points to Tally at Kansas Classic

Topeka, Kan. – Saturday added six individual and four relay top finishes for the Mavericks.
UNO heads into the final day of the Kansas Classic in fifth place with 174 total points.
Freshman Morgan Stepp and sophomore Natalie Renshaw both beat season-best times in their respective races.
Stepp took 10th place in the 400-Yard IM (4:36.41). Friday's only individual top finisher, Stepp beat her season-high time of 4:40.46 at the Kansas/North Dakota dual meet on Nov. 2.
Renshaw took fifth place in the 200-Yard Free with a time of 1:54.34. The Omaha, Neb., native bested her previous season-high time of 1:57.56 at the USAFA invitational on Oct. 18. Collectively, Stepp and Renshaw added 21 points for UNO in the two races.
The 100-Yard Breast was another top race for Omaha. Senior Madeline Hutt took sixth place (1:06.24), adding 13 points. Senior Hannah Alexander and sophomore Jordane Linhart added 8 additional points with their times of 1:06.87 and 1:09.09, respectively.
Renshaw added the final individual win of the day in the 100-Yard Back (58.16), taking ninth place.
UNO's relay wins came in the 200-Yard Medley and 800-Yard Free. The medley team of Renshaw, Hutt, junior Jenna Foiles and senior Whitney Korgan took 10th place (1:50.00) with 22 points. The second Maverick team added 10 additional points (1:55.43).
In the 800-Yard Free races, Korgan, Foiles, Renshaw and Stepp took ninth place (8:00.03) for 18 points. The second UNO team added 12 additional points in 11th place.
"I am really amazed at the performance of our team the past two days," said head coach Todd Samland. "We have a few swimmers with lifetime-best performances during an intense part of our training cycle. It makes our upcoming Mutual of Omaha Invite pretty exciting."
In team standings, Kansas remains in first with 679.5 points. Iowa State is in second with 523 and Nebraska follows closely in third with 520.5. Air Force remains in fourth with 367 points. Omaha furthered their lead from Northern Iowa who remains in sixth place with 125 points.
Omaha will finish competition in the Classic tomorrow. The final competition will be broadcast on the Topeka-area Time Warner Cable Sportschannel and on ESPN 3 starting at 3 p.m.
