Maverick Golf Annouces Early Signees

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha Director of Golf Tim Nelson announced the signing of five student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on Tuesday. Four of the signees will play for the men's team while the other will play for the women's team.
“We think we have five players who can contribute right away in 2014,” said Nelson. “My assistant coach, Seth Porter, and I have identified student-athletes who are committed to the demands of academics and competition at the Division I level. We're looking forward to getting them on campus and on the course next fall.”
The signees include three Nebraska natives and one each from Kansas and Minnesota.
The following is a list of the incoming student-athletes sorted alphabetically by team:
Men's Team
Phillip Baumberger
Height: 6-2; Weight: 155; Hometown: Lincoln, Neb.; DOB: May 22, 1995
During his senior year, Baumberger competed for Lincoln East, winning the Fremont Invitational and posting several other top-five finishes. He finished in the top-20 at the Nebraska State Golf Meet and helped the team to a fourth-place finish. Prior to arriving in Lincoln, he played golf for two years at Franklin Central High School in Indianapolis, Ind. and for one year at Shattuck-St. Mary's in Faribault, Minn.
Caleb Haight
Height: 5-10; Weight: 165; Hometown: Wichita, Kan.; DOB: Jan. 3, 1996
Haight has yet to compete in golf in his senior season. As a junior, he finished in the top 10 at the Kansas state championship after a third-place finish at the regional tournament. It was his third trip to the state championship in golf following a top-15 finish as a sophomore and a top-20 finish as a freshman. He also lettered in baseball where he played an error-free season as a junior at both shortstop and left field.
Ryan Mayer
Height: 5-10; Weight: 190; Hometown: Eden Prairie, Minn.; DOB: Dec. 30, 1995
Mayer has lettered in golf for three years at Eden Prairie High School. He was named to the academic all-conference and all-state teams during his sophomore and junior years. He was a first-team all-state member as a junior, a season in which he ranked No. 3 in the state. He will compete this spring as a senior for Eden Prairie.
Ryan Milks
Height: 6-1; Weight: 172; Hometown: Gibbon, Neb.; DOB: Nov. 26, 1995
Milks has lettered for three years in golf at Gibbon High School. He finished in the top-two at every regular season meet last year and finished second at the Nebraska State Golf Meet. He helped the Buffaloes to conference, district, and state team titles as a junior and will compete this spring as a senior. He also has lettered for three years in basketball.
Women's Team
Megan Vetrovsky
Height: 5-6; Hometown: McCook, Neb.; DOB: June 6, 1995
Vetrovsky recently finished an accomplished high school career during which she was the Nebraska Class B individual champion for McCook High School and also was named to the all-state team as a senior. She helped her team to a fourth-place finish at the state championship. She was the individual medalist of all but one event as senior, finishing the season with a stroke average of 76 that included a career-low round of 69. A 4.0 student, she was a member of the Greater Nebraska Conference all-academic team.
The Mavericks men's team begins the spring half of its season at a tournament hosted by Western Illinois at San Diego, Calif. on Feb. 10 while the women's team will resume play at the Grand Canyon Invitational in Phoenix, Ariz. on Feb. 24.
