Spenner Named Summit League Athlete of Week

ELMHURST, Ill. – Omaha senior Sami Spenner has been named the Summit League's Track and Field Athlete of the Week. It's the seventh time in her career that she's earned the honor.
Spenner won both the long jump and the triple jump last week as the Mavericks opened the indoor season at the K-State Winter Invitational last Saturday. Spenner picked up first in the long jump with a mark of 19-08 to best the runner up by 11 inches.
She took first in the triple jump with a leap of 41-01, more than four feet better than her nearest competitor.
She also finished third in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.87.
All three marks are league bests and put her second in the triple jump and sixth in the long jump in the NCAA. The Mavericks are not eligible for NCAA competition until completing their reclassification to Division I in 2015.
Spenner and the Mavericks are off until Jan. 17-18 when they compete in the Holiday Inn Invitational at Nebraska.
