Spenner Nabs Sixth Summit Track Award

ELMHURST, Ill. - UNO junior Sami Spenner has been named the Summit League's track & field woman athlete of the week for a league-record sixth time this season. It's the second week in a row she's earned the honor.
The Columbus, Neb., native won the triple jump at the Nebraska Tune-Up with a personal-best mark of 42-07 1/2 (12.99m), which leads the league and would rank eighth in the nation if the Mavericks were eligible for the NCAA Championships during their Division I transition. She also recorded a fifth-place finish in the high jump (5-05/1.65m) and sixth-place finish in the 200 meters (24.50).
Heading into the Summit League Championship this Sunday, Spenner ranks in the top six in the Summit League in eight events including having the top marks in the pentathlon (4,104-school record), long jump (20-05 1/4-SR) and triple jump (42-07 1/2). She ranks third in both the high jump and the 60 meter hurdles, is fourth in the 60 meters and the 200 meters and is sixth in the 800 meters.
The Summit League Championship will be held on Sunday and Monday, Feb. 24 and 25 at South Dakota.
