Mavs' 200 Free Relay Record Falls at League Meet

ROCHESTER, Mich. –The Omaha swimming & diving team continued its run at the 2013 Summit League Championships on Thursday, competing in five events.
UNO broke the UNO school record in the 200 free relay, courtesy of seniors Cami Hansberry and Anna Haxby, junior Whitney Korgan and freshman Natalie Renshaw. The foursome took second (1:33.96), and their mark surpassed the previous record of 1:35.08 set in 2012 by Hansberry, Haxby, Kylie Rathbone and Colleen Klaiber.
In the 50 free, freshman Natalie Renshaw took third place, posting a time of 23.57. Hansberry was close behind in fifth (23.74) in the same race, while Korgan (24.12) and Haxby (24.13) were 11th and 13th, respectively, by way of the B final.
Junior Erin Wright swam to 11th in the 200 IM (2:08.47), and sophomore Ashley Kneifl came in 15th (2:12.16). Senior Mattie Fosbender was also 15th in the 500 free with a career-best 5:10.51.
On the diving side, freshman Miranda Knipfer finished fourth in the three-meter competition with a score of 227.80. Sophomore Maddie Richardson placed seventh (182.30).
“After our first full day of our first Division I conference meet, we are just 23 points away from second,” head coach Todd Samland said. “We had some excellent performances.”
Oakland remains in first with 363.5 team points. IUPUI is in second with 198, while Omaha sits in third with 174.5. South Dakota (173), South Dakota State (143), Eastern Illinois (101) and Western Illinois (72) round out the standings.
Omaha continues the league meets on Friday Feb. 22 before the final day of competition on Saturday Feb. 23.
