Two Mavs Named Academic All-Summit League

ELMHURST, Ill. - UNO senior sprinter Maja Mihalinec and junior multi-eventer Sami Spenner were named to the Summit League's Academic All-League Team on Thursday.
Mihalinec is a Spanish major with a 3.716 GPA and won the 60 meters at the Summit League Championship in a time of 7.58 and took second in the 200 meters (24.42), ahead of the previous league record time.
Spenner, an exercise science major with 3.758 GPA, was named the Women's Track Championship MVP after claiming league titles in the pentathlon (3,888 points), long jump (6.04m/19'9.75”) and triple jump (12.43m/40'9.5”) and finishing fourth in the high jump (1.68m/5'6”). She also ran the anchor leg on UNO's 4x400 meter relay that clinched the runner-up trophy for the Mavericks.
North Dakota State led the league with four selections while Omaha, Oakland and South Dakota State had two each. South Dakota also had one member of the team.
Omaha track & field returns to action for the start of the outdoor season on Saturday, March 16 at Tulsa.
