Final Results
ELK GROVE, Calif. - The Omaha men's golf team finished 14th at the Sacramento State Invitational on Tuesday at the Valley Hi Country Club.
The Mavericks, playing in their first tournament of the spring, finished with a three-round score of 920 that included a round of 312 today. UC Santa Barbara won the tournament with a score of 854 followed by Cal State Fullerton at 861. Chico State was third at 865.
Karl Krieser had UNO's best round on Tuesday with an even par score of 72 that included three birdies and three bogeys. He finished second on the team with a score of 228 and finished in a tie for 54th. That put him just one behind Alex Holtan who led the Mavs in the tournament at 227. He shot a five-over-par 77 in round three, highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole. Holtan finished in a tie for 49th overall.
Alex Overfelt was third for the Mavericks and 63rd overall at 230, closing with a round of 82. Michael Shukis was fourth. His final round of 81 put him at 235 for the tournament, good for a tie for 66th place overall. Mitch Ryan shot 244 for the event, closing with an 83 on Tuesday.
The Mavericks return to action at the Arkansas-Little Rock/First Tee Collegiate Classic on March 25-26.
