MACOMB, Ill - The Omaha men's golf team tied with Creighton for 10th place at the Beu Mussatto Invitational hosted by Western Illinois on Saturday at the Harry Mussatto Golf Course.
The Mavericks closed with a team score of 319 in the final round on Saturday to finish with a three round score of 918. South Dakota State won the event with a score of 889, edging fellow Summit League school IUPUI at 891. Indian Hills Community College was third at 893.
IUPUI's Santiago Ruiz was the individual medalist with a 54-hole score of 217.
Alex Holtan finished play with a team-best round of 77 on Saturday to lead the Mavs in scoring with a three round total of 224. He finished 15th overall in the field of 88 golfers. Alex Overfelt and Mitch Ryan finished in a tie for second for the Mavs and in a tie for 37th overall with a three-round score of 231. Overfelt shot 80 in round three while Ryan had an 82.
Taylor Sidzyik carded an 81 in round three and was fourth for UNO and tied for 51st overall with a score of 233. Michael Shukis rounded out the scoring for the Mavericks, also shooting 81 on Saturday for a three round total of 237.
The Mavericks are now off for almost a month before competing in the Summit League Championship on April 22-24 in Keller, Texas.
