Women Stay in Third; Men Up To Seventh

KELLER, Texas - The Omaha men's golf team moved into seventh place while the Maverick women held steady in third place after the second round of the Summit League Golf Championship.
The Maverick women posted a team score of 333 in round two for a two-day total of 655 at the Sky Creek Ranch Golf Club. North Dakota State leads the women's field with a score of 619 followed by Kansas City at 643.
Brooke Thilges had the UNO women's top score of the day, firing a 79 in round two. She is tied with Elizabeth Havekost for second among Maverick players in scoring at 164 through the first 36 holes, putting them in a tie for 13th. Havekost had an 85 on Tuesday.
Sophie Peters continues to lead the Mavs in scoring. She sits in a tie for seventh after carding a round of 83 today, giving her a two-day total score of 160.
Katie Kesti is fourth for UNO and in a tie for 19th overall with a total score of 167 following a round of 86 on Tuesday. Melyssa Doerr shot an 87 in round two for a total score of 175.
On the men's side, the Mavs posted a team score of 317 on Tuesday for a 36-hole total of 633. Kansas City leads the nine-team field with a score of 593 followed by South Dakota (597) and South Dakota State (605).
Karl Krieser shot his second consecutive round of 78 and is tied with teammate Taylor Sidzyik for the Maverick scoring lead with a total of 156. They are in a tie for 23rd. Sidzyik shot 79 on Tuesday.
Alex Overfelt is third in scoring for UNO at 157 after shooting 81 in round two. He is tied for 25th in the 45-player tournament. Freshman Mitch Ryan improved by six strokes from his round one score, firing a 79 on Tuesday for a two-round total of 164, good for a tie for 35th overall.
Mitch Johnson shot 83 in the second round and sits at 169, putting him 41st overall.
The final round begins on Wednesday at 8 a.m. for the men and at 10:24 a.m. for the women.
