CALHOUN, La. - Taylor Sidzyik shot a score of seven over par to lead the Omaha men's golf team to ninth place after the first two rounds of the Wallace Jones Invitational at Louisiana Monroe on Monday.
The Mavericks carded a 36-hole team score of 622, putting them just one stroke behind Missouri State. Kansas City and Sam Houston State are tied for first among the 14 teams in the event with scores of 606. Houston Baptist is third at 613.
Sidzyik shot rounds of 75-76 for a day one total of 151, good for a tie for ninth overall. He is one stroke ahead of teammate Karl Krieser who shot 78 in the first round and a team-best 74 in the second round. Krieser is tied for 17th overall.
Alex Overfelt shot back-to-back rounds of 80 to sit in a tie for 48th overall. Mitch Ryan is fourth for the Mavs and in a tie for 62nd overall after rounds of 80 and 85. Alex Holtan rounded out the scoring for UNO with a score of 172.
The third round begins at 8 a.m. on Tuesday at the Southern Pines Golf Club.
