CALHOUN, La. - Karl Krieser shot a round of 75 on Tuesday to lead the Omaha men's golf team to an 11th-place finish at the Wallace Jones Invitational hosted by Louisiana Monroe.
The Mavericks finished with a team total of 937 through 54 holes at the Southern Pines Golf Club. Sam Houston State won the tournament with a score of 905, just ahead of Kansas City at 908. Oklahoma City was in third just one shot back.
Albert Miner of Sam Houston State and Brad Gehl and Sam Lee of Oklahoma State, both of whom were playing as individuals, tied for the overall lead at 219.
Krieser led the Mavs in scoring and finished in a tie for 12th at 227, 11 over par. Taylor Sidzyik closed with an 83 on Tuesday to finish with a score of 234, second for UNO and in a tie for 35th overall.
Alex Overfelt had UNO's second best score in round three with a 78 that gave him 238 for the tournament, a total that included a team-best seven birdies. He was third for UNO and in a tie for 49th overall. Mitch Ryan shot 83 over the final 18 holes to close at 248, good for a tie for 68th.
Alex Holtan shot his second straight round of 79 to finish at 251, putting him in a tie for 72nd.
The Mavericks won't play again until the Summit League Championship on April 22-24 in Keller, Texas.
