MAVERICK CUP RULES
POINT SYSTEM
Each student must accumulate a total of 5 Community Service Points, 4 Life Skill Points, and 5 Code Red Points. The Community Service and Life Skill requirements can be met by attending campus or community sponsored events that involve personal development or career development, internships, job shadowing, volunteer opportunities, etc. The code red requirements can be met at any UNO athletic competition.
Each student-athlete is required to fill out and turn in the appropriate form after attending a community service event or life skill event. (Code Red points are recorded when the student swipes their Mav Card to get into the game). The community service/life skill form explains what the athlete did and specifies the type of event. These forms are located in the Academic Excellence Room and also at the bottom of this page.
In order for their team to receive points, the student-athlete must complete the required number of points by the end of the school year. The total points per team is dependent upon the percentage of the team who completes the required amount. The total for each team will then be computed and the team with the most points will be the recipient of the Maverick Cup.
PROGRAMS
A comprehensive listing of programs for the academic year will be provided to students at the start of the year. This list will be available on the web as well and will be updated throughout the year. In addition, student-athletes will be notified of the events via email.
Some of the programs will be offered and/or sponsored by the athletic department. It is necessary that student-athletes sign up for these programs in order for the athletic department to provide the needed supplies.
POINT TOTALS
The Academic Success Staff will keep track of attendance and points for each individual. This information will be provided to coaches upon request.
There will be attendance reports updated on the Life Skills points sheet (linked below) every 2-3 weeks, so the coaches can monitor their team's progress. The students will also be able to get on the website and check their points. Any questions or disputes regarding attendance must go through the Academic Success Staff. Please contact Dani Brooke at dbrooke@unomaha.edu.
