Mavericks Picked Fourth in Preseason XC Poll

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Omaha cross country team has been picked to finish fourth in the annual pre-season poll of the Summit League's head coaches.
The Mavericks received 16 points in the voting, trailing two-time league champion North Dakota State (36 points/six first place votes), South Dakota (30/one) and South Dakota State (27).
UNO was followed by IUPUI and Western Illinois which tied for fifth place with 13 points and Fort Wayne in seventh with 12. New Summit League member Denver does not sponsor cross country.
The Mavericks finished fifth in their first trip to the Summit League Championship last year. UNO is not eligible for the Summit League crown or NCAA championships until the fall of 2015.
UNO returns five of the eight runners who competed in last year's Summit League Championship including Katarina Zarudnaya, MiKayla Peck, Ashley Kildow, Kristin Rogers and Kayla Fenske.
The 2013 Summit League Championship will be held on Nov. 2 at Fort Wayne, Ind.
