Maverick Kick-Off Features Peek at New Arena

OMAHA, Neb. – Supporters of Omaha Athletics got their first look at the new community/UNO multi-purpose athletic facility on Thursday night.
A video and 3-D model of the arena planned for 67th and Center streets were some of the highlights of the Maverick Kick-Off, the event that marks the start of The One Fund campaign, UNO's annual fund for athletics.
More than 300 guests and members of the UNO athletic department including coaches and student-athletes heard from One Fund Campaign Co-Chairs Kathy and Gary Gates, Chancellor John Christensen and Director of Athletics Trev Alberts.
Men's basketball head coach Derrin Hansen and volleyball head coach Rose Shires also spoke about what The One Fund has done for their programs.
Last year, The One Fund exceeded its fundraising goal of $250,000 for scholarships and program enhancements. This year's goal is $275,000.

The event was held at the Scott Conference Center on UNO's south campus.
