Kildow Leads Mavs To Fifth at Summit Championship

FARGO, N.D. – The Omaha cross country team finished its final season of Division I reclassification with a fifth-place finish at the Summit League Championship on Saturday.
The Mavericks finished with 132 points on a chilly day at host North Dakota State. South Dakota, ranked ninth in the Midwest region, won handily with a score of 29. North Dakota State was second at 60 points, just edging South Dakota State at 63. IUPUI was fourth (95) and Fort Wayne (159), Western Illinois (209) and Oral Roberts (209) all trailed the Mavericks.
As she did in the six prior meets, senior Ashley Kildow led the Mavericks, finishing eighth in the field of 64 runners with a time of 22:23.34. For her performance, she was named to the all-league second team.
Kristin Rogers, who ran second for the Mavs in every meet this season, came in 25th with a time of 23:27.65 over the 6K course.
Perla Gutierrez was third for UNO and 34th overall with a time of 24:05.07, just outkicking teammate Karo Garcia who was 35th with a time of 24:07.18. Both were season-best times for that distance.
MiKayla Peck completed the scoring for the Mavericks, finishing 40th with a time of 24:20.67.
Also running for the Mavericks were Catherine Davison (44/24:31.55), Alyssa Averhoff (50/25:04.98), Kristen Carmichael (55/25:40.21) and Jacqueline Mezick (56/25:48.88).
