Mavs in Fourth After Day One at Kansas Classic

TOPEKA, Kan. – The Omaha swimming & diving team closed the first day of competition at the Kansas Classic in fourth place with a total team score of 118 though five events.
UNO was led once again by sophomore Morgan Stepp who placed in the 500 free finals with a season-best time of 5:07.23. The Parker, Colo., swimmer also placed in the 200 IM finals finishing with her fastest time of the season (2:07.43).
Two Omaha relay teams picked up points for the Mavs in the 400 Medley Relay. The quartet of Stepp, sophomore Jamie Dhabalt, senior Jenna Foiles and freshman Cassie Jahn finished with the second-best time of season for this event (4:04.67). The other 400 Medley Relay team made up of freshman Hilary Schieffer, senior Lexi Bergeron, freshman Olivia McLain and junior Hannah Johnson touched the wall at 4:12.26.
Omaha continues its run at the Kansas Classic Saturday morning with the next six events. Seeding heats begin at 10 a.m. from Capitol Federal Natatorium, with the final heats slated for 6 p.m.
