Omaha Finishes Kansas Classic in Fourth Place

TOPEKA, Kan. – The Omaha swimming & diving squad wrapped up the Kansas Classic Sunday at Capitol Federal Natatorium. The Mavericks finished the three-day event with a total of 378 points, giving them a fourth-place finish.
Omaha was led by Morgan Stepp, who hit two season-best times on the day while scoring points in three events. The sophomore placed sixth in the 200 breast (2:24.61) and 12th in the 200 back (2:08.83).
The freshman duo of Sam Starke and Cassie Jahn both scored points in the 1,650 free. Starke finished ninth with a time of 18:36.11 and Jahn took 11th, clocking in at 18:40.67.
Junior Jordane Linhart also tallies points in the 200 breast while establishing a personal season-best time in the event at 2:31.90.
Freshman Kaitlin Harthoorn was one of two Mavs to score points in the 200 fly, finishing with a time of 2:15.66. Freshman Kendra Lair also came through in the event, touching the wall with a time of 2:19.40.
The 400 free relay team of Jahn, senior Jenna Foiles, and juniors Hannah Johnson and Natalie Renshaw placed sixth in the event. The quartet crushed the Mavs' previous season-best mark in the event by finishing with a time of 3:36.97.
Omaha returns to the pool on Dec. 5 at HPER Pool for the Mutual of Omaha Invite. The event spans two days with heats slated to start at 11 a.m. each day.
