Mavericks Picked Fourth in Pre-Season Track Poll

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Omaha track & field team has been picked to finish fourth during the indoor season in a pre-season poll of the Summit League's coaches.
Last season, the Mavericks finished third at the Summit League indoor championship, fulfilling the prediction of the league's coaches. This is the final season of the Mavericks Division I reclassification.
Seven-time reigning champion North Dakota State was picked to win the indoor championship again this season. The Bison received six first-place votes and finished with 48 points in the voting, just ahead of South Dakota which got the other two first-place votes and 44 points. South Dakota State was third with 36 points followed by the Mavericks with 27.
Oral Roberts, which rejoined the Summit League this season, was right behind the Mavs with 26 points. Western Illinois (18), Fort Wayne (14) and IUPUI (11) rounded out the voting.
The Mavericks begin the indoor season at the K-State Winter Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 13 in Manhattan, Kan.
