SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Omaha men's golf team is tied for first place after the first two rounds of the Carlton Oaks Invitational hosted by Western Illinois.
The Mavericks are tied with DePaul for first with a team score of 620, 15 strokes clear of third-place St. Bonaventure. Bradley is in fourth at 638. The event is the first of the spring season for the Mavericks.
Both Karl Krieser and Alex Overfelt are tied for the team scoring lead with two-round scores of 153. Krieser shot 76-77 while Overfelt fired a 77 and 76. Both players are tied for sixth in the field of 51 players from eight teams. They each carded four birdies on day one.
Alex Holtan is third for UNO and tied for ninth overall at 154, shooting rounds of 75 and 79. Taylor Sidzyik is 22nd overall after carding rounds of 77 and 84 for a day one score of 161.
Mitch Ryan is fifth for the Mavericks and tied for 41st overall. After struggling to a score of 91 over the challenging 7,117-yard layout at the Carlton Oaks Golf Course, he rallied for an 83 in round two.
The final round is Tuesday beginning at 9:30 a.m. CT.
