Mavericks Show Improvement on Day 2

DUNNELLON, Fla. – The Omaha women's golf team took six strokes off its team score in the second round of the MSU Ocala Spring Invitational on Monday.
The improvement was not enough to move the Mavericks out of 16th place in the tournament. With a score of 336 on Tuesday, they now have posted a 36-hole team total of 678. Daytona State College continues to lead after a team round of 298 in round two to put it at 593, three strokes ahead of Houston Baptist which shot a team score of 297 on Monday. North Florida and Murray State are tied at third with 604.
The event is being hosted by Morehead State.
Sophie Peters shot her second straight round of 78 to lead the Mavs. With a 36-hole total of 156, she is in a tie for 43rd overall. Katie Kesti shot 81 in round two and, at 161, sits in a tie for 66th.
Kat Slump had UNO's biggest improvement in the second round, shooting 83 after an opening round of 92. Her score of 175 puts her 90th overall.
Makenna Kroeker shot 94 on Monday for a two-day total of 186, putting her 91st overall. The Mavericks are playing with just four golfers.
The final round begins with a shotgun start at 7 a.m. CT on Tuesday.
