LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Omaha men's golf team is in 11th place after the first two rounds of the UALR/First Tee Classic on Monday at Chenal Country Club.
The Mavericks posted a 36-hole team score of 610 on the first day of competition. That included a score of 299 in the second round which marked a 12-shot improvement over the first 18 holes. The top three teams are all separated by two points. Louisiana Monroe leads at 584 followed by McNeese State at 586 and Sam Houston at 588.
Karl Krieser leads the Mavericks with a 36-hole total of 151 that includes rounds of 75-76 to put him in a tie for 25th overall. Alex Overfelt and Taylor Sidzyik are tied for second for the Mavs and tied for 32nd overall with scores of 152. Overfelt shot 79 in the morning and closed with a team-best score of 73 in round two. Sidzyik carded a 78 in the first round and a 74 in the second round.
Mitch Ryan is fourth for UNO and in a tie for 53rd overall with scores of 80-76-156. Alex Holtan is fifth for the Mavs at 163.
The final round begins Tuesday at 8 a.m.
