CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Omaha women's golf team is tied for ninth after the first round of the Saluki Invitational hosted by Southern Illinois on Sunday.
The Mavericks posted a team score of 332 over the first 18 holes at Hickory Ridge Golf Course. Host Southern Illinois leads with a score of 309 followed by Indiana State at 311. Chicago State is in third at 320.
Sophie Peters led the Mavericks with a round of 76 that included a score of 36 on the front nine. She's in a tie for sixth overall in the field of 83. Katie Kesti is tied for 23rd after carding a round of 81.
Kat Slump is third for the Mavericks and tied for 39th overall with a score of 84, one shot off her career best. Makenna Kroeker is tied for 67th overall with a score of 91. For the second straight week, the Mavs are competing with just four golfers.
The final round begins with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. on Monday.
