MONROE, La. – Alex Overfelt shot a team-best 73 on Tuesday to lead the Omaha men's golf team to eighth place at the Wallace Jones Invitational at Louisiana Monroe.

The Mavericks posted a 54-hole team score of 923, closing with a round of 304 on Tuesday, their best team round of the event. Host Louisiana Monroe won with a score of 870 while Arkansas-Little Rock was second at 881. Oral Roberts took third at 910.

Overfelt's 73 was one stroke off his best round of the season, putting him at 228 for the tournament and good for 22nd place. Karl Krieser was right behind at 229 following a 75 in round three. He finished in a tie for 23rd.

Mitch Ryan was third for the Mavs and 32nd overall at 232. He closed with a round of 77 on Tuesday. Taylor Sidzyik shot his third consecutive round of 79 to finish at 237, good for a tie for 45th in the field of 71.

Alex Holtan finished one stroke back of Sidzyik at 238. He also shot 79 in round three.

The Mavericks will play at the ASU Red Wolf Intercollegiate hosted by Arkansas State on Monday and Tuesday, April 7-8 in their final event before the Summit League Championship.
