Laidley Wins Twice At Day Two of Doane Relays

CRETE, Neb. – Kathie-Lee Laidley finished first in the 100 meter hurdles and the long jump to lead the Omaha track and field team on Saturday at the Doane Relays.

Laidley qualified first in the 100 meter hurdles prelims with a time of 14.69 before taking first place in the finals with a time of 14.46. The senior from Portmore, Jamaica then competed in the long jump where she bested the 22-person field with a leap of 19-05 ¼.

Laidley also competed in the 200 meters on Saturday, finishing second with a time of 25.77 and setting a new personal record. Macy Woitzel also set a new personal record in the event at (27.42).

Nicole Liske set a new PR in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.49 in the preliminaries before finishing second in the final with a time of 12.54 while Katarina Zarudnaya finished second in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:42.95. Ashley Kildow finished third in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:47.85, and Emily Moore set a new PR in the event with a time of 5:37.21.

In field events, Liske and Jessica Ripp both set new PR's in the long jump with leaps of 17-05 ½ (7) and 17-00 ¾ (8). Ripp (36-00 ¾) and Liske (33-05 1/4) also set new personal records in the triple jump, finishing third and 13th, respectively.

Megan Adams finished ninth in the discus with a PR toss of 127-11 while Liz Thompson finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 43-09 ¼.

Omaha will be back in action in two meets next week, starting with the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. The meet will get under way at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday from the Jim Duncan Track. Omaha will also travel to the Kip Janvrin Invitational in Indianola, Iowa starting on Thursday, April 24th starting at 2 p.m.
