Kesti Tied For Ninth at Summit Championship
Apr 21, 2014 | Women's Golf
KELLER, Texas – Katie Kesti shot a six-over-par round of 78 to lead the Omaha women's golf team in the first round of the Summit League Championship on Monday.
Kesti is in a three-way tie for ninth after the first 18 holes at the Sky Creek Ranch Golf Club after posting matching rounds of 39 on the front and back.
The Mavericks, already fielding just the minimum of four players, did not earn a team score because of an illness to junior Sophie Peters which kept her off the course and put the Mavericks at just three players to start the tournament.
League newcomer Denver leads with a score of 295 followed by North Dakota State (319) and South Dakota State (321).
Makenna Kroeker is in a tie for 26th in the 39-player field after an opening round of 85. Kat Slump is third in scoring for the Mavericks with an opening round of 93 which has her in 38th place.
The second round begins on Tuesday at 7:30 a.m.
