Four Mavericks Named WGCA All-American Scholars

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- Four members of the Omaha women's golf team were named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association's All-American Scholars list, it was announced Wednesday.
Senior Sophie Peters, juniors Katie Kesti and Makenna Kroeker and sophomore Kat Slump all made the list of 664 women golfers from Division I, II and III. Both Kesti and Peters are repeat honorees.
To make the list, the student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50, one of the most stringent in college athletics.
Kesti, a native of Red Wing, Minn., led the Mavericks in scoring in 2013-14 with a career-best stroke average of 80.1. She appeared in all 26 rounds. She also had a team-best two top-five finishes.
Kroeker, who hails from Lincoln, Neb., was one of just two Mavericks to play in all 26 rounds in 2013-14, finishing third in team scoring with a stroke average of 86.9.
Peters, who played in 25 rounds last season, finished second in team scoring with a career-best stroke average of 81.1 A Fremont, Neb., native, she tied for the team lead with three top-10 finishes.
Slump, a local product from Skutt Catholic, appeared in 23 rounds for UNO. She was fifth in team scoring with a stroke average of 92.3.
