Newcomer Sletmoen Qualifies for U.S. Amateur

FARGO, N.D. – Incoming men's golfer Brandon Sletmoen has qualified for the 2014 U.S. Amateur Championship to be held next month in Georgia.
Sletmoen, a transfer from Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Fergus Falls, shot 72-65-137 over 36 holes in the qualifier at the Fargo Country Club on July 21. His score was the best in that section.
The U.S. Amateur Championship, staged by the United States Golf Association, is being held at the Atlanta Athletic Club (Highlands Course) in Johns Creek, Ga. from Aug. 11-17. The championship will be televised live on the Golf Channel and NBC beginning Aug. 13.
Sletmoen, who will be a junior this fall, was a two-time NJCAA All-American, helping the team to fourth- and fifth-place finishes in the national tournament in his two years.
